There is a parable about a hummingbird which goes something like this: there was a raging fire in the forest which caused all the animals in the forest to flee. All of them gathered at the edge of the forest and watched as the flames spread and engulfed their homes…all except a small hummingbird. The hummingbird flew quickly to a watering hole, picked up a single drop of water in her beak, flew back to the forest and released the droplet on the fire. Again she went back to watering hole and brought back a single droplet. She did this tirelessly as the other animals watched. Many of them complained for her to stop since her endeavor seemed dangerous and futile. “The fire is too big!” “It is too hot!” “There is too much smoke!” However, the hummingbird ignored their complaints and continued to bring water to the fire one drop at a time. Finally, one of the animals asked the hummingbird: “What are you doing? How can you, a tiny hummingbird save the forest?” 

To this, the hummingbird responded simply: “I am only doing the best that I can”.
